MENA e-crime and cyber resilience summit 2021 concludes

The MENA E-Crime and Cyber Resilience Summit 2021 started off with a key note titled ‘Emerging Trends in Fraud Detection & Management: 2021 and Beyond’ which was then followed by panel discussions ‘Cyber Resilience – Safeguarding the Digital Organization of The Future’ and ‘Cyber-Security in Smart Cities of the Future’ etc.

The finale of the two-day virtual summit started at sharp 10am with a presentation by Simon John Newman, Head of Cyber and Business Services at Police Crime Prevention Initiatives. In his presentation he mentioned trends we need to look out for in order to detect fraudulent activities and ways to tackle such circumstances. He also shed light on how organizations adapt to the complex digital landscape and the ever-changing consumer behavior.

It was followed by panel discussion moderated by Dr. Haitham Hilal Al Hajri, Cyber Security Specialist at Oman National Cert and panelists Roly Stride, Regional Director Middle East at Darktrace and Paolo Miranda, Director, Volunteer Outreach at (ISC)2 Singapore Chapter.

They discussed on ways to embed cybersecurity into digital transformation, as well as on how business continuity can be guaranteed within the growing cyber threat landscape. Right after the panel discussion, followed a presentation by Seth Youssef, Principal Security Architect, Field CTO Office at Snowflake. He gave an excellent explanation on the key requirements for security analytics and also stressed on the importance of data to create next generation security analytics. The event then proceeded to the final session of the two-day summit.

The panel discussion titled ‘Cyber-Security in Smart Cities of the Future’ was moderated by Dr. Haitham Hilal Al Hajri, Cyber Security Specialist at Oman National Cert with panelists Simon John Newman, Head of Cyber and Business Services at Police Crime Prevention Initiatives and Laila Abdullah Al Hadhrami, Director of Building Capacity at Smart City Platform. They discussed about various smart and cyber secure government models followed across the globe, highlighting the best ones.
